The Sedalia School District Foundation is managed by a volunteer board of directors operating  independently of the school system. Representatives from Sedalia School District staff, business community, parents, SSD school board, and alumni serve as well. The superintendent of schools serves in an ex officio capacity. The Board of Directors meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 7am. This is an active board involved with the school district and community at events such as the back-to-school breakfast for educators, Smith-Cotton High School Homecoming weekend, annual golf tournament, Chamber of Commerce meetings, and Sedalia School District School Board meetings.
